The PATH 400 Trail is the backbone of the Trails and Greenways Sub-System of the Buckhead Collection - a greenspace action plan completed for Council District 7 and the Buckhead Community Improvement District (BCID) by Carlos F. Perez while working for AECOM. This grey-to-green infrastructure project will transform over 30 acres of underutilized land and detention ponds into a linear system of trails and greenspaces that will enhance pedestrian and bicycle connectivity while addressing the social, recreational, and environmental needs and desires of the community.
The trail is approximately 5.2 miles long extending from the northern boundary of Buckhead to Atlanta’s BeltLine Northeast Trail along underutilized joint Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority’s (SRTA), Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), and Norfolk Southern right-of-way. Carlos worked with Heath & Lineback Engineers, Inc. on the design and engineering of the trail providing public involvement, design, and landscape architecture construction documentation services. Divided into 7 phases, all but one of the phases are completed. The last phase is projected to be completed by 2022.
